The following statement is from DC Councilmember Charles Allen (Ward 6), chair of the Council’s Committee on Transportation and the Environment, following today’s vote by the WMATA Board of Directors approving the agency’s $4.8 billion FY25 budget.

Baseball's back, the cherry blossoms have bloomed -- spring is definitely here! Plenty below on some major items: the new deal with Monumental to keep the Wizards and Caps here in DC, public safety, the Mayor's proposed budget is out, and a big environmental bill moves forward.

The following statement is from Councilmember Charles Allen (Ward 6) on a new deal being reached with Monumental Sports and Entertainment (MSE) to remain in the District:

Today, DC Councilmember Charles Allen (Ward 6) introduced legislation to keep students in school and lower the District’s alarmingly high rates of chronic absenteeism and truancy by focusing resources on the school communities with the highest rates of absenteeism.

Spring is in the air, and that means three things: cherry blossom bloom is imminent, we'll have pollen everywhere soon, and it's time for the city to start debating our budget (that's what you think of in springtime, right?!).

The following letter was sent by Councilmember Charles Allen on to the Board of Zoning Adjustment regarding their pending case for Pacci's, who applied to re-zone the second floor of their building for expanded seating for their restaurant.

The following letter was sent from Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen to Mayor Muriel Bowser outlining his budget priorities and asks to the Mayor ahead of her formal budget submission later in March, which begins the Council's deliberations on the FY25 budget, which will begin on October 1.

DC’s Department of Transportation has announced application window and a list of participating local bike shops for an e-bike rebate program, set to begin April 1.
